Oracle/SQL Reporting Specialist
Overview
Our client is now accepting applications for a Oracle/SQL Reporting Specialist to join their growing team in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
- A detailed oriented person who can translate business requirements into SQL code
- Familiar with Business Processes including the concepts of Key Performance Indicators, and business metrics.
- A proactive self-starter willing to take ownership, advocate on behalf of the customer and think outside of the box
- Entrepreneurial and willing to contribute to team success.
This position will be based out of Bedford, NS location but may require international travel.
This is a great opportunity for candidates with a computing science background (with exposure to business operations) who are considering a long-term career as an Oracle Database Administrator to gain career experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Computer Science or Community College IT Graduate
- Familiarity with UNIX operating system environments (Solaris, Linux)
- Experience with database design and PL/SQL procedure design
- Strong Oracle PL/SQL development and unit testing skills
- Reporting tool admin and development experience is a major plus (Cognos, OBIEE, Business Objects).
- Strong trouble shooting skill in an Oracle environment
- Strong Unix Scripting Skills (KSH, Perl, CSH)
- Experience with source code control with Clear Case or CVS is a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate dedication to customer
- No restrictions on ability to travel internationally

Responsibilities
- Capture requirements from Business Team members for their information requirements
- Prototype, design and write software to generate the requested reports
- Collaborate with other Software Engineers to ensure reporting requirements are considered during software design
- Diagnose problems with existing reporting application software and correct problems
- Review existing reporting architecture and recommend improvements and changes
