Business System Analyst

We are currently sourcing a Business Systems Analyst for our client in Halifax.

Asset Management

• Analyze, implement, and maintain computer systems that achieve the service levels established for designated customers
• Develop key asset management plans (application reviews, disaster recovery plans, business impact analysis) that meet business requirements
• Recognize and identify potential areas where existing business policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, and make recommendations;
• Ensure effective use of application security and controls by communicating application policies, procedures, and practices to the application users;
• Manage application licenses;

Service Provider

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical and non-technical application problems;
• Answer user questions regarding product usage;
• Provide proactive application monitoring;
• Manage application support issues using standard tracking tools, log customer questions, and track issues through to completion;
• Perform project and operational tasks with good overall quality, while being able to prioritize work to meet deadlines;
• Maintain relationships with business partners and system users;
• Provide after-hours support.

Leader of Technology Innovation

• Manage and execute application change using standard change management methodologies;
• Support user reporting requests;

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

The successful candidate will have a University degree or diploma in a computer related discipline and a minimum of five years’ experience in client facing support roles. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of Enterprise Applications and the management of , coupled with expertise across the IT disciplines in order to deliver effective business solutions. Experience utilizing standard project management methodology and an understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Language (ITIL) processes is an asset.

Working knowledge of the following would be an asset:

Familiarity with ERP applications (e.g. Outage Management, Work Management (Maximo) , Resource Management (Service Hub), Itron Design Studio , Graphical Information Systems (ESRI GIS))

• Strong demonstrated leadership and communication skills inside the Business/IT partnership
• Demonstrated ability to translate Business needs into technical solutions
• Design and development of enterprise applications on Microsoft platform
• Understanding of related products such as Project server or Forms server would be plus
• Multiple Platform experience (Unix, Intel, Citrix etc.)
• SQL scripting
• Unix scripting
• Oracle DB
• Web (Java)
• Reporting Software ( Crystal Reports, Cognos, BIRT)
• Middleware ( Mq-Series, JMS, WebSphere)
• Experience working with utilities (e.g. Electric, Telecommunications)
